I mentioned a while ago that I'd be putting down my knitting needles for a bit to pick up my crochet hook. Well, I did just that and finished this afghan. I started it two or three years ago, about the same time I started one for my mom. I finished hers, but packed mine away just partially done. It feels good to have finished it and I really love the way it turned out. It looks lovely in our living room. I've pretty much claimed it as mine. :)
I love to crochet blocks to make an afghan rather than crocheting one in long rows. The blocks make you feel like you've accomplished a small project each time you complete one. They are little works of art. They are also a nice size for working on in waiting rooms and in the car...and yes, with the kiddoes I do my fair share of "waiting."
I combined two different block patterns from the book, 200 Crochet Blocks, for this afghan. If you like to crochet blocks or would like to try it, this book is fantastic! There are 200 different block patterns to choose from and if you're like me you'll want to try them all...or at least most of them!
I'm close to finishing another afghan that I started after completing this one. It's for my studio which gets crazy cold during the fall and winter! I'll post photos when it's finished.
Thanks for stopping by and Happy Monday!

Gorgeous! I love the blocks. I'm relatively new to crocheting and I'm hoping to make a block pattern like that one day. It's stunning.
Cindy, that is beautiful! I love the color scheme - very warm and cozy. Thanks for showing it to us!

Awesome girl!!! Those colors are SO you!
Cindy, I was recently blessed with a blog award and I'm now passing it on to some of my favorite bloggers. You are so creative and inspiring! I just wanted you to know that I really appreciate your blog and I'm so glad to discover we're distant relatives. So your award is waiting for you over on my blog. Enjoy and be blessed!http://scrappinjulie.blogspot.com/2010/05/sunshine-award-from-archiving-angel.html
That is so beautiful. I love those colors.
LOVE the colors!! PERFECT for snuggling too!!
Wow, Cindy this is just gorgeous!!! I love all the colours you have used, they are so warm and cosy. I haven't crocheted in years, but your project has almost inspired me to give it another go. I have made 2 huge blankets in the past, but the colours of yarn I used were so blah! I would have to try and do something like yours. How did you join the squares so evenly and neatly?? Can't wait to see your next one!
