Last week I started crocheting this afghan for a friend who is expecting. It's not finished yet, but it's getting there and I thought I'd share a peek of it in progress.
I worked on it a little each evening last week, and then pretty ferociously over the weekend. By Sunday evening I had the entire thing together and the border well underway. Then it happened. The thing all knitters and crocheters dread. Somehow one of the blocks had started to unravel.
Gasp!
I had just crocheted seven rounds of border stitches around the entire afghan (including the unraveling block)! After closer inspection I realized that I must have accidentally clipped the yarn! How on earth did that happen?! (Maybe working on it while watching football had something to do with it...) Has that ever happened to you? I've dropped or missed stitches before, but never clipped one. I almost cried. I had worked so hard on the border for most of the day and I was going to have to pull it out! I reluctantly pulled out the seven rounds of border stitching, repaired the problem block and got to bed way too late.
So here it is, with just one border round completed. I do like the way it's turning out...now if I can just keep my scissors in check!

Oh no!!!!! You poor thing! I think I would have gotten sick to my stomach if that happened to me. All that work! Ugh! I feel for you!
Cindy the afghan is so beautiful!!!!!!! Wow! I'm sorry that that happened. You work fast though. I've been working on an afghan for my littlest for over a year now and I'm not even half done. It's just single row too! No pretty squares but I do want to do a scalloped border. I'll have to figure out how to add that. :~) Can't wait to see it all finished.
OH NO!!!!! I am so sad that one block is unraveling! I have never been able to make anything is gorgeous (I've got a double crochet stitch down--but that is about it!). This is super pretty!!!!
WOW! That is so pretty! I have never clipped a stitch (YET) but I feel for you for having to re-do the border- borders seem to take forEVER for some reason and are the part that I really dread. The end result is FAB though- your friend is sure to love it!
It's just beautiful and I'm sure she is going to love it.
Can you hear me screaming all the way in Utah?! I would completely freak. You seem to be taking it really well. :) It's so beautiful, and I can't wait 'til you post the finished afghan.
I would have cried. It is a beautiful blanket, Cindy!
The recipient will be so grateful for such a thoughtful, and beautiful gift!

It's beautiful, Cindy,. I love the colors. They remind me of the Hattie group from My Mind's Eye Stella and Rose collection!
