First Day Back

The first day back to school is always fraught with so many emotions. Every year Allan and I both take the kids to school on their first day, walk them each to their class, take photos to the point of embarrassment, and leave them with a big hug...this year was different. This year I stayed home and Allan took them to school. I snapped all my photos here at home before they left. They're growing up. Moya is now in 7th grade and Elijah is in 4th, and well, it's just not cool to bring a whole entourage to school with you. As Allan and the kids drove away this morning I felt a sense of loneliness...which was new for me. Then I realized it was because I wasn't in that van going with them to walk them to their classes. Change can be difficult.

Some things seem as though they will never change though...like this one. She loves school and is always SO excited for her first day back! She's been counting down for school to begin again since the beginning of her summer vacation!
And then there's this one...I think this photo speaks for itself. It's the same every year with him too - he never wants to go back to school. And of course knowing that makes me miss him even more.

I do take comfort in knowing that his pout will fade as he gets back into the routine of school and catches up with all his friends.

How was your morning for the first day back to school?

I can't believe how big they are getting!! Moya is in 7th? That can't be right. Wasn't she just a 5th grader? And poor E! Oh, that face! I remember felling that way at back to school time. I hope you have a good day and don't miss them too much! When are we going to Skype?

Great photo's Cindy! I can tell by the looks on their beautiful faces that one is happy and one is unhappy. LOL Olivia doesn't love school but she likes to get dressed up.

Those photos are classic!! I love it... and I know girl.... Mason did NOT want me to go into his 4th grade class.... Landon, however, has thrown up every other day out of nervousness but is managing to get used to 1st grade. At least you are still home with them. I struggle daily because I work 4-5 days a week right now. :( So hang in there..try not to miss them too much honey!! Dive into a project and enjoy the silence!! :)
