BasicGrey digi giveaway

Hi everyone! I hope you had a lovely weekend. I spent mine on the couch, sick with a nasty cold. Thankfully, I had my laptop and some fun new digital products from BasicGrey to play with! Have you seen the BasicGrey digi products yet? They're awesome! You can check them out at the BasicGrey Digital online shop.

My plan was to use the fun new BasicGrey digital goodies traditionally by printing them out to use on a "cut & paste" type scrapbook page. Getting sick, however, put that plan on hold and caused me to try my hand at some 100% digital projects. Though I am fairly adept in PSE, I'm not a digital scrapbooker by any means, but, I have to tell you, I had a blast creating the digital projects below!

For my projects I mainly used products from the Pheobe collection. I love that BasicGrey offers so many papers and elements in each collection. You can create a limitless amount of projects with one collection and still have them all look quite different. BasicGrey also has many add ons and ala carte items for even more variety!

Secrets BasicGrey Digital Supplies: Pheobe Alphabet; Pheobe Baubles; Pheobe Trims; Pheobe Patterns; Pheobe Borders

Ideas to note for Secrets layout:
1. I cut out circles from the patterned paper to use on my page as embellishments.
2. The background paper is actually the brown patterned paper in the Pheobe Patterns collection. I just layered several screens over the top to get the near white look.
3. The green paper on my page is actually the blue paper from the collection. I simply changed the hue to green.

I enjoy making cards traditionally, but with embellishments they can be pretty lumpy, which makes them impossible to send through the mail...at least in a regular envelope. By designing them digitally I can still add all the bulky accents that I love, but without the "bulk" by using digital elements. When my card design is finished I just print it out and it's ready to use. Another plus, I can print multiples of the same card to use. Such a time saver!

For the card below I paired items from the Pheobe collection with a patterned paper from the Oh Baby Boy collection.
Happy Birthday BasicGrey Digital Supplies: Pheobe Alphabet; Phoebe Element; Pheobe Baubles; Pheobe Trims; Pheobe Patterns; Oh Baby Boy Paper

Ideas to note for Happy Birthday card:
1. I used the brown alphas with varying screens over the top for my greeting.
2. I backed the bird outline with patterned papers for a unique accent.
3. For the buttons I simply used a light color and the pencil tool to draw the stitches. I even added a small shadow to help the stitches look a bit more realistic.

This last layout was actually the first one I created with the BasicGrey digital products.

Sweet Girl BasicGrey Digital Supplies: Pheobe Alphabet; Frames; Pheobe Baubles; Pheobe Trims; Pheobe Patterns; Black Tie Textures

Ideas to note for Sweet Girl layout:
1. The flourish on the top left of my page is part of a frame. I filled some of the loops with patterned paper.
2. Again, I used screens layered over the Pheobe brown patterned paper to get the lighter browns you see on my page.
3. I used a texture on my photo to get the cool photo effect..

Now for the part you've been waiting for. The giveaway! I have one $25 gift certificate, complements of BasicGrey, (for use in the BasicGrey Digital online shop) to give to one lucky winner! Simply leave a comment on this blog post by midnight EST, Thursday, April 22, 2010 for your chance to win. I will use a random number generator to randomly select the winner. those are great, the thing I love most about the Basic Grey digi - no fear of "cutting" into it. I get to use the papers I love over and over again!!!
