Fanciness

I mentioned in a previous post that I had another project to share using the fun Japanese masking tape from Ginko Papers, and here it is. A layout about my son's wonderful freckles! I love how the orange tape works with the Like Father Like Son collection from Fancy Pants. It's as if these products were made for each other! I love when that happens.

Before adding the tape to my page I lightly sanded it to rough it up a bit. It works best to sand the tape while still on the roll.

To further distress the tape, I crumpled it up and then flattened it back out before adding it to my page.

For dimension I used foam adhesive on some of my page elements. I also adhered the star paper strips so portions of the paper are raised, creating a funky wavy effect.

I really love the Like Father Like Son collection. It's such a great "guy" product line. I knew it would be just perfect for my son's backpack tag this school year. I used a clear badge holder (you can buy these at an office supply store) to protect the tag from wear and tear, lamination works great too. I combined two of the cards (from the Like Father Like Son Cards Paper) to create the front of the tag. I hand stitched the felt stars to the outside of the plastic badge holder.

For the back of the tag I added a cute photo of my son – you could also add personal info here. I also made a special greeting card that I secretly slipped into my son's pencil box, to wish him well on his first day of third grade. I added a pencil loop with some Fancy Pants ribbon so that I could attach a cool new mechanical pencil to the card – my son loves mechanical pencils – especially orange ones!

Thanks for stopping by and Happy Monday!

This is great! You always do such a good job on your boy pages. Of course I love all of your layouts, but you rock the boy/masculine stuff for sure!

I love all of it!!! Beautiful choice of colors. I like the speckles on some of the paper which is a play on his freckles. Love the trick with the tape to age it! Altogether very sweet! Your kids must be so happy when they find such thoughtful things tucked away in their bags.

Great page, Cindy! I love all the texture that is added when the elements are not all flat. Love the product, too.
