See Alisa's blog post or the Sharpie website for detailed instructions on how to Sharpie tie-dye.
I finished my flowers by outlining and adding details to them with a black Sharpie. I did not add alcohol to the black markings as I wanted the outline and details to stay crisp.
The Sharpie website says, "After your shirt is completely dry (alcohol is flammable, so don’t use heat on a damp shirt), set the colors by tumbling the shirt in a hot clothes dryer for 15 minutes." I tried this and the flowers still bled a little in the wash. So I'd suggest washing your shirt alone until you are certain the ink is indeed set.
Moya is working on a Sharpie tie-dye pillow case. Photos to come when she completes it, although, I'm not sure when that will be now that school is back in session.
Let me know if you have any questions.

I love, love, love this shirt and technique. I'll have to add it to my to do list now. :-)
Your shirt turned out great!
I can't wait to see Moya's.
I think my daughter could really get into this, too.

I could have used this back in my scout leader days! Love your shirt. BTW, you look awesome, too! :-)
How did you keep your black outlines from running when you applied the alcohol? Did you add the outlines after the project was dry?
Amanda, I added the black outlines after the t-shirt was completely dry.
How did it wash? Thanks!
I've done the sharpie tie dye thing before, but it's been awhile so I was looking up how to do it for a youth project I'm in charge of at church, soon. I'm totally in love with the look of your t-shirt! Adding the black lines in after just makes it perfect!
