Dream Chasing

I wanted to be an artist after winning my very first art contest in elementary school.
I wanted to be an artist when I was going to college for visual communication.
I wanted to be an artist while working as a graphic designer.
I wanted to be an artist when I was a stay at home mama chasing after two little munchkins.
I still want to be an artist.

I have created art on and off for years, but never seriously pursued it. I decided that would change in 2013. No more excuses. No more hiding behind other work or projects. No more fear of failure. I made a decision to make creating art a daily habit (or almost daily). Right now I'm just doing a LOT of sketching, getting my drawing muscles going again. It feels SO good. I've missed this so much.

A glimpse at some of my January sketches.

Right now I'm doing a lot of experimenting and playing - with both mediums and subject matter - which is really my only plan for this year. Play. Try new things. Have fun.

A couple of my January favorites.

I'm not sure where this daily art making will take me, but I know that I will enjoy the journey and I will never regret chasing this dream.

What dream are you chasing?

I think this calls for a "You Go Girl!" I really like your line style and shading, particularly in your shells and feathers. At this point, I'm trying to figure out what my dream is and what I'm going to do when I "grow up." I had to leave my big career dream behind me and at this point, there's truly no getting it back so now it's a matter of what's next. Some day I'll figure it out. Good luck with yours- looks like you're well on your way.
